Mercer Men's Soccer Wins DII Region Title

West Windsor, NJ - For the first time in sixteen years, MCCC men's and women's soccer teams both are Region 19 Champions. MCCC men's soccer edged Essex CC 1-0 to capture the Region 19 title. The Mercer men's team will take on the winner of Schoolcraft College in the Northeast District Championship, which MCCC will host on Friday, November 8th at 5:00 PM. The winner will advance to the NJCAA Division II Men's Soccer National Championship.

The lone goal of the Mercer's 1-0 win over Essex was scored by freshman Deniz Karcher (Heidenheim, Germany/Max Planck Gymnasium) off an assist from freshman Henrique Franza (Sao Leopoldo, Brazil/Colegio Siondal).

Karcher who also had a hat trick in Mercer's 8-0 Region Semifinal win over Lackawanna was named the Region 19 Tournament MVP.  Sophomore Joao Delgado (Sao Paolo, Brazil/Dr. Alfredo Cardoso), who was named Region 19 DI/II Player of the Year, earlier this week, was presented with this award after the Championship game.  MCCC Head Coach Widmarc Dalce was named Region 19 Coach of the Year for the seventh time.
