Brookdale Cross Country Hosts First Annual Jersey Blues Invitational

Lincroft, NJ - On a spectacular day, the 1st Annual Brookdale Jersey Blues Invitational meet was a huge success at Brookdale's new and professionally designed course on the Lincroft campus. Eight total men's and women's cross country teams across Region 19 participated in the 5k races.

The women hit the trail first and RCSJ - Gloucester Roadrunner, Autumn Heaton, led her teammates to victory, crossing the line first, and setting a new course record with a time of 22:05. The Roadrunners placed first as a team, and placed four of their top runners in the top 10.

For the men's race, it was a tight contested battle. Jersey Blues sophomore, Theodore Purdon, finished 1st overall, setting a new course record with an astonishing time of 16:57. Brookdale tied with RCSJ - Gloucester as each teams top five finished with 32 points, but the Roadrunners ultimately won the race with a 6th man tie breaker. RCSJ - Gloucester's sixth man finished in 12th as Brookdale's finished 15th.

Coming across the line in 3rd place of the Invitational were the Thaddeus Stevens Bulldogs with a total of 71 points. Just following in 4th place with 99 points, were the Williamson Trade Mechanics.

All in all, the meet was a fabulous event. A big thank you to all of the teams who participated, and to all of those who assisted in making the Jersey Blues Invitational a great success!
