Five Lackawanna Football Players take advantage of NCAA Early Signing Period

Lackawanna College and its Football program are honored to announce that five members of its 2017 football team have taken advantage of the NCAA early signing window and have committed to continue their student/athlete careers at NCAA Division I schools. Those five include Chase Brown, University of Pittsburgh; Terry Bradley, University of Maryland; Michael Dare, Sam Houston State; Daymon Anderson, UNC-Charlotte; and, Elijah Harrison, Central Connecticut State College.

Brown, a two-year starter on the Falcons' offensive line, is a transfer from James Madison University. He is a resident of Ashburn, Virginia, where he graduated from Briar Woods High School. In committing to Pitt, Brown is joining a program that is a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference that recorded a 5-7 record this season, including an upset of then #2 Miami.

Bradley, a redshirt first year tackle on the Falcons' offensive line, is a resident of Leesburg, Virginia, where he graduated from Tuscarora High School. At Lackawanna, Bradley was named to the North East Football Conference "Second Team". In signing with Maryland, he is joining a program that is a member of the Big Ten Conference that recorded a 4-8 record in an East Division which requires them to play nationally ranked, Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan State and an always tough University of Michigan.

Dare, the Falcons starting quarterback, transferred to Lackawanna from Rutgers University. During the 2017 season, he completed 124 passes in 215 attempts for 1970 yards. Of those 124 completions, 15 were for scores. Dare also ran for 3 TDs. For his achievements, he was named to the NEFC "First Team". He is a resident of Elmwood Park, New Jersey, where he graduated from Elmwood Park Memorial. In joining the Sam Houston team, he will be part of a football program that is a member of the FCS Southland Conference. Sam Houston recorded a 12-2 win/loss record for the 2017 season and made it to the NCAA FCS semi-finals before they fell to North Dakota State.

Anderson, a cornerback in Lackawanna's defensive backfield, recorded 25 tackles and picked off 3 passes during the 2017 season. His defensive skills earned him a spot on the NEFC "First Team Defense". He is a resident of Silver Springs, Maryland and graduate of Montgomery Blair. At UNC-Charlotte, Anderson will be a member of a football program that is a member of Conference – USA.

Harrison, a defensive back, saw limited action due to injuries. Despite those injuries, he still recorded 7 tackles and picked off a pass. Harrison is a resident of Linden, New Jersey and graduate of Linden High School. At Central Connecticut State College, he will be playing for a program that is a member of the NCAA FCS North East Conference. This year the Blue Devils recorded an 8-4 overall win/loss while claiming the NEC Conference title. Central Connecticut lost to New Hampshire in the opening round of the FCS playoffs.
