EPAC POTW

Congratulations to Northampton Community College and Lackawanna College, as their athletes were selected as this week's EPAC POTW. 
 
Austin Beard, NCC baseball, Ramon Romero, NCC men's volleyball, and Madison Maloney, Lackawanna (softball) stood out amongst their peers to earn recognition this week.
 
 
Austin Beard pitched a complete game to defeat #3 Brookdale Community College, 14-2. In 7 innings, Beard only allowed 2 runs, 3 Hits, and recorded 11 strikeouts. Last week, Beard led his team to victories over #1 RCSJ-Gloucester. The Spartans' Region record is 5-1, on the season. 
 
Ramon Romero was recognized as the Region XIX Men's Volleyball Tournament MVP and was selected to the 1st Team All-Region. Romero recorded 23 Kills and 14 Digs, as Northampton defeated Ocean County College, 3-2, and captured the Region XIX Men's Volleyball championship.
 
Madison Maloney went 16-for-27 (.593 BA) last week in eight games, with four walks, seven doubles, one homerun, 12 runs scored, and seven RBI. She had a 1.656 OPS (.656 OBP + 1.000 SLG) last week, helping the Falcons go 7-1 on the week and extending their win-streak out to 13 straight games before a loss to Division I Monroe. Maddy had multiple hits in six of the eight games played last week. She was 3-for-3 with four runs scored and two doubles in a win against Howard Community College, and was a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs scored, a run batted in, and two doubles in a 16-14 loss to Monroe. She also hit her first career homerun,  a grand slam, in game one against the Mustangs, while scoring two runs. She was also stellar in defense, with eight put-outs, 15 assists, and two double-plays last week, with no errors. On the season, Maloney is a .442 hitter, leading the Falcons in batting average, runs scored (31), total hits (38), walks (19), and on-base percentage (.551). She has eight total doubles, tied for second on the team, and has driven in 16 runs this year.
