Ocean CC Celebrates 60th Anniversary, Baseball Coach McRae Wins 650th in Viking's 8-1 Win Versus Brookdale CC

Toms River, NJ - 2024 marks the 60th anniversary of Ocean County College (OCC), and the 1st public celebration was held in conjunction with OCC Baseball's March 27th home game against Brookdale Community College.

Ocean County College President Dr. Pamela Monaco and OCC Foundation Executive Director Ken Malagiere were on hand to throw out ceremonial 1st pitches, and there was a party atmosphere on hand befitting this milestone achievement, with music, food, and outdoor games staged for spectators to enjoy.

Ocean CC defeated nationally-ranked #3 Brookdale CC, 8-1, with the win marking the 650th in the distinguished college career of OCC Baseball Head Coach Ed McRae. Coach McRae has held his position at Ocean County College since 2012, and was head coach at Middlesex College prior to OCC. McRae has won 2 Region championships and has been named Coach of the Year 4 times.

When asked about reaching 650 wins, Coach McRae credited his student-athletes: "The 650 wins are really a tribute to all of the players who've played for me over the past 42 years and bought into my philosophy of believing in working hard every day, with the end focus being that they enjoy being part of a team that cares for one another, and develop for the future."

Congratulations to Coach McRae. OCC Baseball next takes the field on Saturday, March 30, when they travel to Middlesex College for a 12 P.M. doubleheader.
