Bio
Ron Case presided over a run of unprecedented success while serving as Gloucester County/Rowan College at Gloucester County’s Director of Athletics from 1991-2016. During his twenty-five year tenure, the Roadrunners achieved top-three national finishes on a total of seventy-one occasions. The Roadrunners won twenty-eight NJCAA Division III National Championships during his tenure at the College. During the same time, 396 student-athletes won the honor of being named NJCAA All-Americans.
In 1998, Ron Case was elected to a four-year term as a member of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Executive Committee. He received NACDA’s National Athletic Director of the Year Award for Two-Year Colleges in 2003, 2006, 2009, 2013 and 2016 (when he became the first five-time winner of this highly prestigious award). Case is a Past-President of the National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators, has served as a member of NATYCAA’s Executive Committee since 1993 and received that organization’s highest award, the L. William Miller Award in 2002. Case also served as the President of the Collegiate Athletic Administrators of New Jersey in 2000-01 and received that organization’s highest award, The Garden State Award in 2007. He served on the CAANJ Executive Committee from 1995-2016. Ron received Gloucester County College’s Medallion Award for Service to the College and Community in 2007 and was inducted into the Gloucester County Sports Hall of Fame in 2009. In 2017 Ron was inducted into the Rowan College at Gloucester County Sports Hall of Fame and was also presented the NJCAA Loyalty Award for leadership exemplifying excellence both on and off the field. Ron was awarded Emeritus Status from RCGC in May of 2018.
Ron served all of two-year college athletics nationally in several roles including: being the Council Chair for Athletics with the American Association of Community Colleges and serving on several AACC Commissions, and being a member of the NCAA’s Two-Year College Relations Panel for well over a decade. In retirement he continues to serve on NACDA’s Honors and Awards Committee, Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup Committee and Continuing Education Committee. During his career, Case also served as: the Garden State Athletic Conference President, the NJCAA Region XIX Women’s Director for all Women’s Sports, the chair of the NJCAA Women’s DIII Soccer Committee, a member of the NJCAA Women’s DIII Basketball Committee and the NJCAA Region XIX Treasurer (a role which he continues to serve in).
Prior to coming to GCC, Case was the Women’s Head Soccer and Softball Coach at Colgate University from 1987-91. From 1979-87 he served as the Men’s Head Soccer and Basketball Coach and Athletic Director at Penn State University’s Delaware County/Brandywine Campus and was inducted into the Penn State Brandywine Campus Athletic Hall of Fame in February, 2021 .
Case received his Master’s Degree in Physical Education from the State University of New York at Cortland in 1979. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Cortland in 1974. He was presented the SUNY Cortland Alumni Association’s Distinguished Alumni Award in 2015.
Ron was inducted into both the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and the National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Directors (NATYCAA) Hall of Fames in June of 2018.
