Ocean CC Men's Volleyball Deals Defending Champion Northampton CC 1st Loss of Season

Toms River, NJ - Ocean CC Men's Volleyball upset EPAC's Northampton CC in 5 sets on Saturday (3/8), dealing the Spartans their 1^st loss of the season.

 

The Vikings, who have won 5 straight matches, were firing on all proverbial cylinders in this matchup. Ocean's defensive effort, led by sophomore libero Sam Barney (15 digs), stifled the defending Region 19 champion Spartans' offense throughout the match, while sophomore outside hitter Brogan Duelly (15 kills) and freshman setter David Alvarez (13 kills) consistently applied the offensive pressure needed to secure the win. 

 

This heated matchup was the first in Ocean's March 8 tri-match versus Northampton CC and Brookdale CC, the latter of whom were also defeated by the Vikings in the final match of the day.

 

Ocean CC Men's Volleyball next takes the court on Monday, March 10, when they host the Region 19-leading Owls of Union College of NJ at 6 P.M.
