GSAC Division 2 Basketball POTW announced
VINELAND - Union's Destiny Bynum-Johnson and Middlesex's Michael Byfield were named GSAC D2 Basketball Players of the Week.
Mens POTW
Michael Byfield - Middlesex
The sophomore from Middlesex contributed in a big way for the Colts in their victory over Mercer County CC. Byfield hauled in 14 rebounds and scored 19 points in the victory.
Womens POTW
Destiny Bynum-Johnson - Union
Union College continues their stellar season, leading the charge is Destiny Bynum Johnson, whose incredible performances earned her the GSAC DII Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors. Bynum Johnson delivered electrifying performances in back-to-back home games. The Owls opened the week with a dominant 108-53 win over Lackawanna College, where Bynum Johnson put on a shooting clinic. She lit up the scoreboard with 27 points, hitting an impressive 8-of-12 from beyond the arc. She also contributed 4 rebounds and 3 steals, in the victory. Her hot hand carried over against Essex County College. Bynum Johnson once again dazzled, knocking down 7 three-pointers en route to another 27-point, 11 rebounds, 3 assist and 3 block performance. The Owls cruised to another win, this time by a score of 107-54.
Union College will look to continue their winning streak when they return to the court to face Salem Community College on Tuesday, January 28th, tip-off set for 5:00 PM.
